About the artist
Caesarea Arts Ltd is a mufti-faceted studio run by husband and wife team Alice & Brian Bergner, who design and craft unique hand made jewelry, and manufacture stone and glass Judaica and gift-ware as well as accessories for the home Environment.
The location of the studio is in Caesarea, Israel, a seafront township built around important archeological sites that date back to ancient times, is an undoubted inspiration for their work. The port and ruins are still being dug today and are a source of some of the ancient glass to be found in some of our designs. Each shard is chosen for its natural opalescent patina and shape and becomes the center piece for a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry, object d’art or Judaic ritual item, created in sterling silver filigree. The glass is in its natural form, affected only by age and Environment, and is not treated in any way.
Living as they do on the shore of the Mediterranean, the quality of life is determined to a great extent by the sea and all it represents. Their family spends as much time as possible combing its beaches, and are lucky enough to have a bird's eye view of it from every window of their home, including the studio. Their moods and
inspirations are in tandem with the mood of the sea. Their work, inevitably
organic, is a homage of sorts, a salute to its life.
