Product Description:

This offering for sale is a new-old-stock Giro Eclipse helmet. It has a pink with blue flower design and is a size large (head size: 23 1/4\" to 24 3/4\" or 59 cm to 63 cm). We believe this helmet was positioned as a sport/recreation road model and was introduced around the turn of the century. At the request of some folks, we also weighed one of these helmets and our postal scale indicates one of these helmets weighs 292 grams.

Although no longer in current production, we believe this was one of the more popular Giro helmet models. Giro positioned the Eclipse as a middle-of-the-road offering, so it\'s probably best suited for non competitive applications. response indicates this model was generally well received in terms of fit, ventilation, weight, etc. Giro certainly made higher-end helmets superior to this one, but at this retail price point, we get the sense this helmet was considered a resonable value among the Giro offerings.

We should also note that because of it\'s relative popularity, we believe this model helmet had a reasonably long production run of 5+ years (best guess). As a result, this helmet was probably subject to minor modifications over the years to incorporate Giro design enhancements...such as the enhancements to the Roc Loc fit and stabilizing system. As pictured, this helmet includes the third generation Roc Loc system to assist with proper fit of the helmet. (and please refer to the last four pictures in the sequence to the left, as we found a box that illustrates the development of the Roc Loc system through the first three generations of this fit and stabilizing system).

As noted above, these Eclipse helmets are new-old-stock and still retail boxed. We acquired them as part of a larger lot of nos items years ago and many were still packed/sealed in original crates. I guess what we are saying is they are still factory new with a full compliment of original pads and the front/rear strap/locking mechanism is still intact (or as Giro refers to it...their Roc Loc fit and stabilizing system).

Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case.
