New York Yankees Vintage Celluloid Toy Wind-up Baseball Player For Sale
This is an old wind-up celluloid baseball player with the New York Yankees logo on his left sleeve. When wound, heworkssporadically (sometimes you must give him a little tap for him to continue on!!). No dents or cracks, but there is some rust on the bottom and on the key. The arms are jointed at the shoulders and arms move, but the elastic that connects the arms is a bit loose (not bad but mentionable) from age. When you wind him up (I only wound him about 1/2 turn so as not to break the mechanism) and set him down, he goes forward then stops, turns and goes another way, all the while looking up as if to catch the ball! But like I said above -- sometimes he stops and you must give him a little tap to get him moving again!! Also, the key for winding is included. It is old and needs a gentle cleaning. The toy was protected inside the box, but the original box (shown in the picture)is very old, dingy, and falling apart (when you bend the flaps they just fall off) and one flap is missing at the top and there is some disintegration at the right front corner of the box (zoom in on picture for details of this). The toy is marked "Made in Occupied Japan" which is stamped right into the celluloid on the back and it is also printed on the bottom of the box. The toy measures almost 5 1/2" tall. Insurance is required on this item. Please email me with your questions. Thanks for looking!
