I\'ve owned this violin for many years. Estate find that I fell in love with at first sight. Needs to be restored but plays beautifully with a very full rich tone.

I don\'t believe any of the parts are original to this instrument as they don\'t share the age that it does.

Nicolas Mathieu is burned below the neck on the back. I took it to a local violin restoration shop here in atlanta and they said there has been repairs that date back to the 1800\'s. I don\'t know a lot about violins so sadly I won\'t be able to answer too many questions.

I know he was a French maker of the late 1700\'s and didn\'t make very \"interesting\" violins which I found entertaining.

It came in an old case that\'s damaged on the inside but solid on the outside. I will pack it in a new case that I have here if wanted.
