Nippon - Noritake - Japan - Hand Painted Tapestry Vase - Roses 10 1/2" H For SaleThis is a genuine, Nippon tapestry design...not a reproduction. I am offering it for . For those of you who may not be familiar with this type of decorating technique it is (and I quote from Joan Van Patten's The Colllector's Encyclopedia of Nippon Porcelain, Third Series), " a type of decor used on Nippon porcelain using a cloth that was dipped into liquid slip and then stretched onto the porcelain item. During the bisque firing the material burned off and left a textured look on the porcelain piece resembling needlepoint. In many cased, the item was then painted and fired again, in the usual manner." This vase features romantic bouquets filled yellow and pink, tea roses nestled in lush greenery and elegantly framed with a radiant gold. It stands, from its golden rim to its round base, 10 1/2" and reversed is a Nippon Maple Leaf hallmark used between 1891 and 1921. This Japanese beauty is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have and thank you for visiting my sale.
