His plot failed and he and his group were tortured and hung. The British commemorate the failed plot each year on November 5, by celebrating "Guy Fawkes Day" or Bonfire Night. It is a night of fireworks, bonfires and sometimes the burning of effigies of Guy. This character jug depicts Guy wearing a black hat with a reddish-orange band. He is wearing a white shirt with a large collar and a black coat over the top. He has long brown hair, and a very profound mustache and beard. Henk in the 1950's, the handles began to play an important part of
