Nomura - Mechanized Space Robby Robot Japan 1961Build in 1957 by Nomura in Japan. This is for sure THE robot icon that everybody knows: ROBBY THE ROBOT in its purest form. Build as an exact copy of the robot in the film Forofferden Planet. There were many variations made of this legendary robot but this is for sure the "mother" of all robbies :) The actions are of course walking, flashing lights, spinning ears and the famous pumping pistons in his head. His arm swing around while he walks. Not like other robots, robby carries the 2 D-cells in his legs.This robot was part of a small collection that I found recently in Italy. The condition of this robot is very good to excellent. There is some normal playwearas you can aspect from a 50+ year oldtin toy robot.
The dome looks to be a replacement ( as with most robby robots by the way ) and one of the hands as well. The batterycompartments are clean. The chrome parts could use some polishing but I leave this to the new owner. The robot works fine and strong, the light works as well as the pistons. Also both antennas work fine and both spin.If you are looking for a mint example than you should not offer on this robot but if you are looking for a very very nice played with example that is still in perfectly working condition than this is the robot for you.
