Norma and David DeCamp 30” Seated Santa
Yes, he is elegant, and just look what
he is holding. This is a design by
David that is really getting popular.
The bridge is “free held”
It can be removed and after Christmas
if you put Santa away, the bridge can be
set out to enjoy all year long
This piece is completely hand made in our studio.
But le me tell you about Santa
He is fully armatured and even his head
can be lowered or raised and turned from side to side. Now however, his legs are made with a strong wire, just as his arms are. They stay the way you pose him and it is ever so much nicer. His hands can be bent to stay in that position to hold whatever you like.
His face is kind and yet joyous.
His coat, while being black, is covered with a gold design.
His fur is mink and he has a Russian type hat
of fur and cord.
His pants are almost black corduroy but sort of
deep dark chocolate color.
Santa’s face is sculpted, I am doing more and more
of my own faces, instead of using a mold. After doing these fellows for 40 years, you sort of know what you want
them to look like.
yet they have a way of “making their own way.”
Now to get to the bridge.
The little girl is also all handmade, armatured too,
molded hands, boots and head. Hand painted.
She is dressed in pigskin leather. A red head no less.
The trees match the winter scene and just sparkle of
gold and silver. The Lamb is a Schleich and
most everyone knows the Schleich animals.
They are outstanding.
Santa has a lovely bag with the gold’s, black and browns
to match his coat and pants. Across the front and in the bag are many darling handmade toys.
A jack in the box, two dogs on a rocker, Santa Roly Poly, a curious fox and a little wooden girl
being hugged by a bear. A few other items
and many a package adorn this bag.
Santa’s boots are cut from wood and
whittled to look like old leather boots.
Well that’s about it. Remember his legs and arms
now are sturdy and keep him in a good position at
all times.
