EAGLE PLAQUE BY GINO SEWARD 13GS3 Dimensions: Height: 14 1/2 Inches, Width: 8 Inches

This handmade piece, by Gino Seward, is carved from pine, a wood not commonly utilized by First Nations artists. The plaque is masterfully carved; displaying clean cuts, deep carving and fantastic detail . A stain has been applied that accentuates the natural wood grain and gives the piece an aged feeling. Gino has signed the back of the plaque and I will provide a copy of his biography to the winning buyer. GINO SEWARD

Place of Birth: Nanaimo, British Columbia
Affiliation: Kwakwaka'wakw/Salish


Gino was born in 1972 in Nanaimo, British Columbia. He is of both Coast Salish (father) and Kwakwaka’wakw (mother) descent.

Gino began carving at the age of eleven and was taught by his Salish grandfather and by the Kwakiutl master carvers Jackson and William Robertson. Gino prefers to carve in both red and yellow cedar, which he uses to create finely, detailed plaques and amazing freestanding totems.

Gino, now considered to be a master carver, has taken on two apprentices (Danny Pugles and Sammy Seward) and is proud to aid in the preservation of his cultures artistic traditions.
