Nun Doll: Sisters Of The Little Company Of Mary:
This sale offers a 15" tall Darice doll that is dressed in the habit worn by a member of the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary. This congregation was founded in Nottingham, England, in 1877 by Mother Mary Potter to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Sisters make a consecration of themselves to the sick and dying. They make no distinction of class, nationality or creed and do not charge for their services. When needed, they may also do mission work in poor districts. The Sisters have houses in Italy, England, Ireland, Malta, United States, Africa and Australia. The Sisters' habit was black with a black scapular. They wore a red cincture from which hung a black rosary. A profession crucifix hung around the neck. A light blue veil in honor of the Blessed Mother completed the habit.
This doll has movable arms, legs and head. The head has painted features and beautiful blue eyes that do not close. A white metal stand is included.
The doll was dressed by the seller who has had many satisfied buyers of dolls dressed in handmade habits of various religious communities.
