Old, great circa 1840 pearlware Sunderland Luster, Sunderland Lustre, Historical Staffordshire covered dish, Bridge over River Wear, 9 Aug 1796 (please see attached pictures). Item is 4&5/8" tall, is unmarked on the bottom, and shows a transfer on one side with ships and a bridge and says in the margins " West View of the Cast Iron Bridge Over the River Wear built by R. Burden Span 236 Feet, Height 100 Feet, Begun 24 Sept 1793 Open 9 Aug 1796 ". On the other side, it has the following: Teach me to feel another's woe, To hide the fault I see, That mercy I to other's show, That mercy, show to me. Condition is as follows: Bottom part has a repaired handle as shown and lid has a repaired hairline as shown. Really neat piece with great Sunderland Lustre effects on the bottom and the lid.
