VTG EMERSON 21666 SIX BRASS BLADE & CAGE OSCILLATING ELECTRIC
FAN
This offering is for an
original Emerson Oscillating Electric Fan. The fan is marked on the makers tag
attached to the the top of the motor "EMERSON PATENTED THE EMERSON ELECTRIC
MFG CO NEW YORK ST LOUIS NO. 194185 TYPE 21666 VOLT 110 WATTS 62 CYCLES
60 SPEED (BLANK)". The cage is made of brass and measures app. 13" in diameter
and the six brass blades measure app. 12½" in diameter. The fan also measures
app. 19" tall to the top of the cage. The cage has a few small bends in it and could stand to be straightened in those areas although it is quite serviceable as is. The fan runs well on all three speeds and shuts
off properly in the off position. There may be a tiny bit of wobble when it runs but it
appears that it just needs to be very slightly adjusted or aligned to take it out. there is
no rubbing, squeaking or other sounds of trouble. The oscillator works properly as
well. However, the cords are quite worn and have been spliced in one spot so I would
not recommend the cord be replaced at the very least before you plan on using it.
Please also keep in mind that the fan is as found with years of accumulated dirt and
grime so a complete cleaning is highly suggested prior to actually planning on using it.
There are no breaks, cracks or repairs and the black painted surface is still quite nice
with the only real wear, flaking or loss mainly confined to the base flange. The bottom
plate still retains most of the original felt covering. We have done nothing more than
wipe the dust off the fan so with proper care the fan should polish up beautifully. The
fan displays great, the overall condition is excellent and with proper attention will
make an excellent addition to someones collection, shouldn't it be yours!!! If any
