Old Chelsea Yacht Wheel Ship’s Bell Mantel Clock For Sale
Chelsea ship’s clock sounds the ship’s bells when the minute hand is turned. The base is stamped withthe numbers 276413 and 58. See photo. The approximate measurements are as follows: dial four inches, height 10 inches, base 8.25 by 4.25 inches, and the ship’s wheel 8.25 inches in diameter. The clock has been wound up (both time and strike side), but does not run down. It was running and sounding the ship’s bells properly when it was placed on the top of a book case in granddad’s office four years ago. Being near the ceiling I feel certain the clock has just dried out and needs to be cleaned and oiled. The springs and balance should be in good shape. The clock needs an hour hand and a screw in the hand-arbor (or whatever you call it) – see picture. The clock was serviced in1989.
