Old Vintage Antique Chad Valley? Brown Mohair/alpaca Plush Little 9" Teddy Bear For Sale
Lovely Chubby little 1930's Chad Valley chocolate brown plush teddy bear. This sweet and chubby little bear, stands at just 9" from the tips of his toes to the tips of his ears and is five ways jointed and stuffed with kapok in his body and wood wool in his head. He is very unusual in that he has brown plush which I think is either alpaca or a mix of alpaca and mohair as it is quite thick and lush. There are no labels or ID's but I think he is probably a Chad Valley bear and he bears some similarities to the Chad Valley 'Smiles' teddies that were produced during the 1920'sThere is a hole in one of his four felt pads which has been underlined with felt but he is in otherwise original and very good condition with all his original features intact, including his amber and black glass eyes, his vertical nose stitching and his big beaming smile. His brown plush is clean and soft and he has a very good covering with just slight overall thinning and some bare spots on the edges of his ears but I would estimate he has still retained a good 95%+ coverage overall. He also has a non working press growler in his tummy and is wearing a pair of charming cotton dungarees in aquamarine blue with a baby and flower repeating motif.He is a 'rare' little bear with his unusual brown plush and is small enough to sit in the arms of one of your bigger bears and he is very cuddly in the fur.
