Old Vintage Antique Farnell/terry's? Mohair Teddy Bear 1915-25 English Character For Sale
Golden mohair Farnell or Terry's? bear standing at just 11" tall. Circa 1915-25.
This little bear has been loved but he is still in clean and sturdy condition and is a sweet looking bear with
a very endearing, lopsided smile. He has a sparse covering of his soft gold coloured mohair with overall thinning
and lots of bare areas on his torso arms and head and I would estimate he has retained about 20% coverage overall.All of his cotton pads are original but there is a little damage including two which have holes at the tips and one foot pad
is mostly 'hole'. Despite this, none of the pads are actually leaking stuffing as the wood wool is so firmly packed, but they
could probably do recovering or underlining to prevent them deteriorating in the future. His front seam has been untidily
stitched in the past (which you can see in the photos) and could do with bit of neatening up. His nose stitching is original
and placed on top of his muzzle, which was a feature of early Terry's bears and he also has a front closing seam which was
a typical feature of both Terrys and Farnell bears. His amber and black glass eyes are original and he has a press squeaker in his
tummy, which is no longer working. He also has a length of thread by his squeaker which would have held a card hang tag.
He is a lovely looking bear who despite his wear is still a very sturdy ted with a great profile and a prominent hump.
He is a very collectable small size and would make a lovely addition to any hug of early English bears.
