Old Vintage Antique Merrythought Tipped Mohair Bingie Teddy Bear Earliest Label For Sale
Tipped Merrythought sitting 'Bingie' bear. 11" tall in the seated position and dating to 1930-31. This super little bear is just 11" tall in the sitting postion, from his bottom to the top of his head and has jointed arms and head but unjointed legs so he is fixed in the seated position. He is in good overall condition although he has had some light professional restoration by the wonderful Dot Bird which included underlining his paw pads and replacing his foot pads. He has retained a good covering of his soft gold mohair with some overall thinning and small bare areas, particlularly on his face and chest but this does not stand out too badly and I would estimate he still retains 85% coverage. I think he was originally a tipped bear as there are areas where his mohair is slightly darker on the tips, but this has faded overall and just leaves the slight impression of a tipped mohair bear. He is a rare little bear and also has a embroidered label on the inside of his right thigh which reads MADE IN ENGLAND BY MERRYTHOUGHT LTD.This wording was used on the very first year of production from the Merrythought factory in 1930-31 and in the following year the words HYGENIC TOYS were added to the label making it easy to date this bear to 1930-31. **Please view all the photos which can be enlarged to assess his condition for yourselves and I am happy to answer any questions** He is a really sweet looking character bear and rare to find in any condition and he would make a very suitable companion to your hug.This rare Merrythought 'BINGIE' bear is being offered with a very low starting price and to the highest - special delivery including insurance - £6.95 Europe - International signed for post including insurance - £12.25 US, Canada, Australia, Japan - International signed for post including insurance - £15.95
