~*~ SPRING FLOWERS BUNNY ~*~ Miniature Rabbit ~ Pin Cushion ~ Stick Pin ~*~ A Creation for Easter and Spring 2013by Janie Comito
~*~ ~*~ SPRING FLOWERS BUNNY ~*~ is an ensemble creation: One of Janie's sweet miniature bunnies strolls on top of a gusseted, pieced felt pin cushion in soft spring colors cupped in hand appliqued leaves that sprout tiny flower buttons. ~ The piece is further embellished by a hand worked flower stick pin. Bunny carries a wonderful antique store find that has been in Janie's pin cushion collection for many years: A hand crocheted cushion in the shape of a flower basket that was described as a 'needle cushion'. Janie thought it a perfect match for this ensemble creation... in other words: The bunny had to have it!Bunny is hand sewn from vintage white long pile upholstery fabric and is firmly stuffed with wool. She is three way jointed (head, and arms); ears arms and body have wire armatures for posing. The face has been clipped, needle sculpted and hand tinted to give it a sweet character. She wears a little rose pink scalloped felt collar with decorative needlework on the scallops. Bunny measures 3" ~ not counting her ears. She is sewn firmly to the pin cushion base. The pin cushion is created from 100% wool felt(s) and measures a generous 3 1/4" wide x 2 1/2" tall; it is firmly filled with hand carded wool roving and chopped wool felt. Pin cushion and Bunny are 5 1/2" tall. The felt flower pin measures 2 3/4" across; it is hand detailed on both sides and accented with flower buttons that match those on the pin cushion. I’m Janie Comito, designer, collector, artisan and appreciator of
lovely and fanciful objects. I have been known Internationally for 34
years for my miniature teddy bears and other animal and bird designs. I am also
known for my sewing collectibles. Most of my offerings are one offs and all
my creations are meticulously designed and hand sewn by me; they are made as
beautifully as I can contrive to create them. I
