Original double sided porcelain sign from East German film manufacturer ORFO (ORiginal WOlfen) The sign measures 20\" across and 20\" tall. It has three holes along the top edge for hanging, two appear to be original to the sign and the third appears to have been added at a later date.
The sign is in very good condition with some chips in the porcelain along the edges and at the mounting holes on the top edge. The sign also has a bit of waviness to it, but nothing too distracting.
The corporation Filmfabrik Wolfen was founded in 1909, which would date this sign to 1964 which is the year the ORFO logo was created when the company began selling its products to several Western countries, including the UK and USA.
The company still produces cinematography and photo films, including black and white stock for vintage movie restoration and preservation.
