Original 1770 Boston Massacre Gazette Newspaper W/ Paul Revere Coffin Woodcuts:
This historically significant newspaper is the Monday, March 12th, 1770 edition of the Boston Gazette and Country Journal and contains the article and woodcuts by Paul Revere which spread the story of the Boston Massacre (or "the bloody massacre on King Street"). The woodcuts are of four coffins with the initials of the slain, Samuel Gray, Samuel Maverick, James Caldwell, and Crispus Attucks.
Printed on rag linen paper, a 1770 original, not a later reprint--see photos of closeups under various lights demonstrating the cloth pattern.
This paper was from an old Maine house. The pages are somewhat faded as one would expect from a 230 year old document, but quite legible. The acid in the matting has darkened the outside edges of the pages. This will be shipped as pictured, still attached to the matting (I'll leave any restoration to the buyer). Each page is 16" x 10 1/2".
