Original Civil War Era Tin Camp Coffee Pot & Tin Cup For Sale
Original 1860's Civil War era Tin Camp Size Coffee Pot with period Tin Cup in very good condition. This somewhat larger size coffeepot would have been used in camp by a small group of soldiers tenting together around a campfire. Looks to be about gallon size and measures 10.5" tall to the top of the black painted wooden finial on top of the hinged lid. Measures 9" tall to the top of the rim with the lid up. It measures 8.5" across the bottom and tapers to just over 5" across the rim. The coffeepot has an impressed ring design around the upper portion of the body. All soldered seams and soldered on flat bottom, which is correct for the period. Has rolled-edge, soldered & riveted on tin spout mounted across from the soldered & riveted on rolled-edge tin strap handle with reinforcing gusset. The lid & finial are in very good condition. There is some wobble at the hinge from wear and use, but functions as it should. The exterior of the pot has most of its tin finish with small dents here and there from being used. The flat bottom has some patches of surface rust with a period repair at the edge where the vertical seam meets the the bottom seam. Also has a dent on the bottom edge. The interior is in good shape with stains along the sides and bottom with some small patches of light surface rust, but no rust thru or pinholes to be seen. The Tin Cup which came with the pot is in comparable condition with most of its tin finish inside & out; measures 4.5" tall and 4.25 across the rim. All soldered seams with soldered on rolled-edge handle and soldered on flat bottom, which is correct for the period. Several tiny dings and dents from use with minor patches of surface rust on the bottom and around the rim, otherwise in sound condition. Several pics are provided to show overall condition and considered part of the description. Scroll down after description for added pics. Both pieces are in great condition and would make a nice addition to a Civil War era Soldiers Camp Display. Please read payment & shipping information. See sellers other listings. Thanks for looking.
