Original Early Vintage Brady Poaching / Shooting / Fishing Game Bag:
This is an old poacher's, gamekeeper's, shooter's, or fisherman's game bag by the well known maker Brady of Halesowen. It is very well made of canvas and leather with a string type netting attached to the front. There is a strong carrying strap which is adjustable and a central leather strap and buckle to fasten the bag. When flat, the bag itself measures 15 inches (38cms.) wide and 14 inches (36cms.) deep approximately. There is a small green label below the central buckle which bears the name of the maker "Brady Halesowen".
The bag is quite dirty and has a few stains showing it has been well used as intended. The condition however is very good because there is no damage. It is still in its original state with no alterations or additions. There are no holes and the netting front is in really good condition with no tears in the netting and it is still attached properly to the bag itself. All the stitching is intact with no opening of the seams. There is no fraying except for a little at the bottom of the inside lining. There are some rust marks on the carrying strap where the metal adjuster has been because the adjuster has rusted somewhat. The small leather closing strap has some small surface cracks but is still good.
I know the whole thing looks quite tatty at first but the actual condition is very good. It has obviously been well used but also very well looked after. It must have carried a huge amount of game over the years and it's nice to see one that has been used as the maker intended and not just for posing. It really is a testament to the quality of the maker and great to see like this, full of character!
I am fairly new to but a friend who has more experience is helping me so you can offer with confidence.
