Imperial Russian Medal for the War of1853-1856 (Crimean War), light bronze version for combatants.

The medal is in brass; measures 28.0mm, weighs 10.3 grams without suspension. Obverse shows monograms of the twoemperors, Nicholas I and Alexander II.

The medal is in Fine condition. Thereis moderate wear to the raised portions on the obverse, but most of the detailsof the monograms and inscription are nicely defined. The reverse also showswear, but the writing is completely legible. There are no significant scratchesor noticeable dings on either side. The raised edge has some only a couple oftiny dings, no bumps or significantknocks. Comes ona small length of new St. George ribbon.

Established in 1856, this medal wasofficially known in Russia as the Medal for the Eastern War. The light bronzemedal was awarded to all military ranks who had taken part in combat on alltheaters of the war.
