Original Wwii 8th Army Air Forces Issue A2 Flight Jacket - 789th Bomb Squadron For Sale
ORIGINAL WWII USAAF ISSUED 789TH BOMB SQUADRON A-2 FLIGHT JACKET**HISTORIC 8TH AIR FORCE - 467TH BOMB GROUP - 789TH BOMB SQUADRON*****B-24 "FLYING BOX CAR" - VERY RARE ITEM*******PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION & VIEW PHOTOS!****This sale is for an ORIGINAL World War Two United States Army Air Forces Issued A-2 Flight Jacket with a damaged 789th Bomb Squadron Patch and "JACK" Painted to the back of the collar. This jacket is in OVERALL POOR CONDITION. The Patch is in POOR CONDITION. The good news is the jacket is REAL and an Army Air Forces Issued Jacket from the Very Famous and Very Historic 789th Bomb Squadron. The 789th was part of the very historic 467th Bomb Group which held the record and was recognized for being the MOST ACCURATE Bomb Group in all of the 8th Air Force! Fortunately many aspects of the jacket are in GOOD Condition. The leather is still soft and flexible with no powdery red rot and the original cuffs and waistband are in good condition as well. The original pocket snaps, collars snaps and collar clip are present and in working order. The jacket is not brittle, it flexes and folds easily. Approximately 70% of the leather patch is still present and with good coloration. You can definitely tell it is the "Flying Box Car" patch representing the B-24 Liberator. It appears to be a size 40 to 42. To the back of the collar in large yellow letters is painted the original owners name "JACK." The majority of the liner is missing but the leather hanger sewn into the upper interior is still present. The jacket has a broken TALON zipper and the zipper stop has come off. It is marked Talon to the front and rear. The jacket also has a small hole in the upper left shoulder as well as considerable age, wear and cracking to the finish of the elbows. The collar shows some cracking as well. The patch is very dry and brittle. I honestly do not know how it is still on the jacket. The jacket may display better laying down but looks good on a mannequin torso. Nice, original WWII AAF A-2 that is 100% real! We want everyone to have a chance to purchase this jacket and want it to go to someone who will appreciate it and take care of it. So, we are selling it with !!!I will do all I can to make sure you receive this jacket in the condition you see it in here. I will take extra precautions to make sure the patch remains on the jacket. However, I honestly cannot guarantee you that this patch will not come off in shipment to you. This jacket needs a good home and perhaps with some conservation / preservation work it will be around with the patch many more years. If the patch could be affixed to the jacket more firmly, it would certainly help. Even with its issues, it makes for a good display as it is and I am offering it with and a very low opening offer. PLEASE view all photos closely and ask any questions that you may have. Thank you very much for looking and good luck offerding!!!WE ALSO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL 343RD BOMB SQUADRON PAINTED A-2 FLIGHT JACKET LISTED THAT IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND A SIZE 46!
