Red protector with white outlined ONE and red 1s flanking vignette. Center, under curved title, The Hail with sailor holding horn on deck. Left corners, intricate counters, both different. Lower right, young girl, counter above. Signed on both sides, dated Febr. 17, 1862. No type, engravings on back, clean. Minor damage to bottom-left corner, as shown, with typical foxing, overall fine condition. Needless to say, this is a genuine original, period piece, not a copy or reproduction.
