Old Large Staffordshire Wa & Co Blue Willow Platter England Transferware:
This is a large Blue Willow platter. The back is stamped in blue, "Warranted Staffordshire W.A. and Co. T., England." It measures approximately 1 3/4 inches tall by 151/2 inches by 12 inches. Aside from the design not being smooth on the bottom two edges due to damage during manufacture, it is in very good condition. There is somecrazing of the glaze, normal fora piece this old. There are no chips or cracks. On Jul-15-13 at 07:54:36 PDT, seller added the following information:
The manufacture date is between 1981-1900. The rough smudged spots where the colors blend slightly together (see photos) are 3.7" on left hand side and 4" on right hand side. These do not detract from the beauty of the platter. Also of note, the stamp on the back of the platter was put on sideways, running from the rim of the platter toward the center. Typically the stamp runs parallel o the rim of the plate as far as my experience goes. I wonder if this could add to the value, sometimes imperfections make things more valuable, like with coins, but I don't know if that is true with china. On Jul-16-13 at 09:05:36 PDT, seller added the following information:
I apologize for the camera flash reflection on the pictures of the whole platter. Please imagine the plates without the yellow light on them.
