Quote from a well respected London Bookshop
"Fascinating series of reproductions of old Ordnance Survey plans in the Alan Godfrey Editions,
This map is thefirst reprint mapsof The Ruhr Germany taken from the War Office 1:12500 published in March 1945. The maps were issued at a scale of 1:12500 but for convenience this is reduced to a scale of approximately 1:19000 whilst retaining the fine detail. It includes a specially written introduction in English and a shorter version in German. It is folded and opens to approx 590mm x 420 mm.
This map show collieries, railways and industrial sites annotated in English and will be invaluable for transport historians and those with an interest in a fascinating area of Germany.
This map is dominated by the major city of Bochum and by Wattenscheid, now part of Bochum but once a major mining town in its own right. Other areas covered include Ückendorf, Wasserstrasse, Hamme, Weitmar, Kray, Kanarienberg, Sevinghausen. Industrial information includes the Bochumer Verein Works, Präsident mine, Prinz Regent Mine, Zentrum Mine, Fröhliche Morgensonne Mine, Holland Mine, Karolinenglück Mine etc.
The map links up with sheets 9 Gelsenkirchen to the north and 6 Essen to the west.
