Old Meiji Period Shibayama Shoehorn, Carved Bird & Snake, Beautiful Work:
$203

A Shibayama shoehorn but, a bit unusual, with a carved bird and snake at the top with the inlaid insects andthe applied gold foliage below. The bird is beautifully carved with an expressive face and the snake is finely detailed. The shoehorn measures 6 1/8" long or tall by 1 5/8" across the widest part.Ingood, as-is condition with the following issues noted: vertical crack in the spoon; small chips to the edge of the spoon; the bird's right wing is probably shorter than it was originally and; the carapace of one bug is missing. With all that, it is a lovely piece. Please see all the photosfor details and condition.
