You are offerding on a Old Oceanic Polynesian Fa'alautalinga Samoa Samoan war club or a Tonga Tongan ironwood apa’apai War Club. It measures approx. 30 1/2 inches long. The head is approx. 6 1/2 inches wide and approx. 1 3/4 inches thick at the center. Decorated on both side with traditional Polynesian chip carving. Same style as Polynesian tattoo art. This club is quite old and has a wonderful old surface. The handle has a nice burnished smooth surface. Comes from a local estate sale.

I found similar examples on the internet that were called Samoan and other examples that were called Tongan. I am unsure which this is. I am not an expert in Oceanic art and will leave the classification to those who know better. I would be interested to know what others think though. Whichever this is, it is certainly old and quite rare.

CONDITION: Good. Some slight chips to edge of wood on head. Very minor though. Basically in very good condition.
