I purchased this singing bird music box at a local estate sale. I have no expertise in music boxes and will do my best to describe it. It is not working. The cover must be guided to open manually to reveal the bird who does not pop up. A key accompanied the box but I have not even attempted to use it. At the base of the box where the key goes, it appears that someone has been forceful to the point of denting the metal around the key hole. I think the box is made of bronze but not sure.
The box is very pretty, and other than the area around the key hole, appears in very good condition. Under strong light and magnification, the bird (the one side I can see since he doesn't pop up) looks very good with his beak, eyes and feathers all there.
I don't see any makers mark on this box nor do I know the exact age.
The dimensions are: 4.5" wide, 2" high, 2.5" deep.
