Older,Elegant,Chinese 3 Footed Enamelled Covered Bowl
Presented for your consideration today is this older,Chinese, aquamarine colored elegant enamelled covered footed bowl, with enamelled branch stems and leaves decoratingit's top lid. It's covered with sort of a general type of a design over most of it.Hard to say exactly how the markings on it were done,as there are a number of ways to do them.Probably inscribed by hand I'd imagine, judging by the pieces age.It has more specific types of markings as well. One of which is a31 petaled chrystanthemumdecorating it's has some unusual markings on it's underside as well.If anyone out there can clue me in as to their meaning or significance,I'd be grateful. It is also marked "China" there. The mark most likely dates the piece to between 1891-1914.All of the markings are under the glaze. There is some very interesting coloring on the tops of each of the legs, where the rising high heat of the firing process has created these beautiful patches of deep blue.
Dimensions:This covered and footed bowl is 3 3/8" tall,to the top of the finial,the branch stem,onit's lid.It's about 4 1/8" wide,at it's widest points.It weighs 8.0oz.'s,so it will ship as a 2 lb. parcel,if shipped by itself.
Condition:Heavy wear, without any apparent fracturing, around the top edge of the lid.The inner top edge of the inner bowl that looks dark and worn is actuallycompletely glazed all the way around, with just a slight area of roughness in a small area, about 1/8" long, and about a 1/4" below the rim,on the inside of the piece. There is heavy enamel losson2 of the legs,in various spots. In some of the areas with the losses,it almost looks like there are detailed designs there. The third leg looks to be pretty well intact, with just a hole at the foot to allow heat to escape when they were firing the piece. The piece is actually very stable at this point in time,as it sits squarely and firmly. There are also some darkenedsmall hairlines, and some small areas of enamel loss, here and there, andalso some other typesof lines, here and there, that aren't hairlines, and that don't seem to be a part of the overall pattern. There are some long thin lines like this on the inside of the bowl for example,as you can see in the photos.I will combine purchases to save you on postage,if this can be done safely.I don't charge a handling fee,and I'll pay the cost to insure your item, through the USPS,myself. The free shipping price noted is for domestic,US,shipping.** If I do end up inadvertently overcharging for the postage,I'll let you know about it when I send you the tracking information, and I'll refund the difference back to you at that time.I fully guarantee all of my items to be as described. Please note my return policy, and my response as a seller. Also,if I make a significant error in the listing,I'll pay the shipping both ways, should you wish to return the item.
