Onion Comb or Onion Holder
Used for making unique paper effects
Listing is for ONE comb
Second comb (top) is shown for example only
This is an Onion Holder or Comb and is used in paper crafts to do SPREUER work. Thin strips of quilling paper are threaded through or woven through the tines/prongs to produce delicate looking loops that can be used in quillwork as leaves or stems or to make intricate patterns such as the angel wings and body shown in the photo. The wings and body shown are done by weaving the strips through the tines or prongs alternating from one side to the other. Additionally you can weave the strips straight up the tines...not alternating.....to make quilledwheatears with perfectly even spacing between loops. A handy little gadget to have. Try a search using any of the following terms to find tons on instructions or photos of this kind of work: onion comb, spreuer, comb quilling, or similar combinations.
This comb measures 3 1/2 inches by 2 3/4 inches and has 15 prongs or tines. Instruction sheet included explaining how to use it and a pattern for an angel.Sometimes these combs come in different designs but basically they are all the same and function identically.
HINT: If youneed a comb with more tines simply purchase two combs and join them together. Attach the handles (touching each other)to a firm surface like a thin board or very heavy cardboard. This will a extend the available tines to whatever number you want or need.
