Welcome to Diamond K Folk Art!

I am pleased to offer the second doll of my new series of early to mid 19th century dolls~ \"The Graces\". All portray virtues becoming of a Ladye, and this second gorgeous beauty is \"Loyalty\".

She is a Diamond K Folk Art Original, one of a kind doll. I sculpted her head and lower arms from papier mache, and gave her a nice heavy weighted cloth body & legs. I have given her a pair of my most rare antique light blue glass eyes ~ they are absolutely haunting. She sits as prettily as she stands, and is dressed in all antique cottons and lace. She stands 12\" tall on her painted wooden dowel stand. I love the early mache dolls with the large hairdo\'s of the 1830\'s~ more elaborate versions of the little peg wooden dolls knows as \'Tuck Comb\' dolls~ I am returning to these little women in this new series~ each with their hair elaborately sculpted in mache braids modeled after ladies shown in period fashion plates we hold here at the Museum. I. L.O.V.E. this doll. Every stitch I placed with love and intent~ please click on and enlarge the above photos to see all her wonderful details. You will note a carefully stitched darn in her gown below her right hand~ this is done as it would have been in the time. Her gown is hand stitched from a precious early block print cotton with the most gorgeous red roses and early blues~ her petticoat and pantaloons I stitched from a remnant of an antique blue homespun mattress cover~ I left an original milk glass button closure on at the hem~ its so utterly charming and fun to hunt for it. This doll has a feel of no other~ her weight is wonderful and the different textures in her attire make her a tactile textile lovers dream to hold~ you wont want to put her down. A bit of antique lace trims the wide boat neckline of her gown, its big gigot short sleeves gathered neatly into tiny cuffs. She wears delicate painted on red slippers with garters to match. The breast of her gown holds an antique blue montee ~ a gift from her Mother that matches her beautiful eyes. Her hair is the most fabulous of all, done up in tall plaited loops, with two sets of dangling sausage curls to each side of her pretty face~ all carefully sculpted in mache. She is signed and dated under the glaze at the back of her neck.

She will of coarse come with her painted wooden dowel stand and hang tags. If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to ask~ THANK YOU FOR LOOKING!

I am so honored to be chosen as one of Early American Life\'s Top 200 Traditional American Craftsmen 2014 for the 7th consecutive year in a row THANKYOU EAL!!!
