Orig.1863 Confederate $500 Bond Dated 2 March 1863 Portrait Of C.g. Memminger For Sale
This is an Original CONFEDERATE $500 BOND, Authorized By The Act of CONGRESS. C.S.A. February 20, 1863 (issued at Richmond on "this 2nd day of March 1863"). Large-format/single-sheet. Size: 11" by 13 1/2". Printed in black on Very Thin, buff-colored paper. Nice Condition overall, w/a TINY tear in top, left-of-center margin NOT affecting Bond much at all + Bond has one VERY Prominent vertical "fold-line" at center, plus 3 lighter horizontal/vertical folds (barely noticeable); otherwise, o.k. Condition is aUNC (***Please Note: The paper used to print these Bonds is Extremely Thin, tissue-like paper, similar to the paper used in Confederate Currency of the period; consequently, most bonds--as well as currency--show some creasing, wrinkling, etc.). Hand-numbered and signed in brown ink. Large "CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA. LOAN." at top + below these words, at center an engraved image of C.S.A. Secretary of the Treasury C.G. MEMMINGER. A large numeral "500" is imprinted at the bottom + the number 500 is imprinted at each of the four corners. The whole bond is surrounded by an elaborate printed "frame". Back of Bond is blank. This particular BOND has NO Bond Coupons. A REALLY Great Confederate document from the middle of the Civil War. Frameable/Displayable! Low beginning offer!
