This eyecatching original 1950s plant stand surprises with its unusual combination of wood, brass and formica.

The largest base table is pale grey.
Its four legs are placed at an angle.
There is a oval wooden structure mounted onto the table
with three round platforms.

These are yellow, pink and pale grey
Two brass tubes are arranged diagonally across the wooden oval.
with a yellow platform on its top.
All platform surfaces are finished with formica and surrounded by gold metallic rims.
The wave-like brass band inside the wooden oval adds an organic, dynamic quality.

Dimensions (approx.):
Total height: 87cm (34 ¼ ”)
Size of largest platform/table: 95cm x 34cm (37 ½ ” x 13 ¼ ”)
The three small round platforms have a diameter of 17.5cm each (7”)
The yellow platform at the top measures 30cm x 18cm (11 ¾” x 7”)

The plant stand is an original 1950s item.
It is structurally sound and in fairly good vintage condition.
There is some age-related wear, like some scratches and light scuff marks on the wood.
The formica presents with some fading here and there, particularly on the pink platform.
However, the overall appeal of this interesting and unusual piece
is not lessened by this in my opinion.
The brass elements are nice and lustrous.

This original 1950s sculptural plant stand with its rare and unusual design
will look great in a creatively furnished house and/or be a fabulous addition to a Mid-Century Modernist collection.
