Original Antique Cast Iron William Tell Mechanical Bank From 1896 By JE Stevens :
$650.00

This is an antique cast iron William Tell mechanical bank from 1896 made by JE Stevens Co. The bank features William Tell pointing a rifle at an apple on the head of a boy who stands in front of a tower. To deposit the coin in the bank, you slide a coin flat down until the piece of metal is cocked into position. This \"loading\" of the mechanism also causes the head of William Tell to lower into a position that makes it appear he is taking aim at the apple.. The boy’s arm is pulled down which brings the apple to the top of his head. When the right foot of William Tell is pressed down he fires the gun and the coin shoots forward knocking the apple from the boy’s head as he raises his right arm. The coin is deposited inside the castle tower and the head of William Tell falls backwards. The bank measures 10.5\" by 6.5\" and the mechanism is in excellent working condition and there is still original paint left on the bank. There are no cracks to the cast iron, and it is in good original antique condition. On the bottom it says \"Patented June 23, 1896.\"
