Ok we cleaned this up and used some filler and knocked it down so we could put a historical paint finish to it. Well, I guess we have some American Pickers in us because we like the way it now looks without repainting it.All the white finish is original to the piece.Much of ithas crazing in it. Especially the legs.There is just something special about leaving an artifact as you found it!
Now we believe the item was a homemade rocking horse. Nothing looks like a production piece. This is an absolutely wonderful piece of folk made for some child probably in the early 1900\'s. Possibly as late as the depression but I\'m leaning towards earlier. It\'s fragile and for display only. Looks like one small glue repair to a runner. The horse by it\'s self measures 37\" L. by 21\" h and 7\" w. Height includingthe rocker base is 31\" H.
