Original Antique Victorian Lace Muslin Petticoat Excellent 1880s Handmade Floor For Sale
Original Antique Victorian Lace Muslin Petticoat Excellent 1880s Handmade Floor
This lovely work of handmade lace & muslin was made in the 1880s for the petticoat worn beneath a formal gown (thought to be a wedding gown but cannot verify). The cotton top of the half-petticoat, which was cinched with a ribbon, was damaged and removed recently. The fancy part of the petticoat that remains is: 20" long; 69" at the top of the remnant and 134" at the bottom. There are 10 alternating strips of fabric (five of lace, including the flouncy hem layer; and five of sheer muslin). On close inspection there are a few breaks in the lace that are not visible except when held up to the light. This is delicate, but it is still sturdy enough to be incorporated into a garment that could be worn. The only damage to the muslin strips are in great condition, with only one tiny pin-sized hole visible. No Stains. Every treasure from the past tells a unique story about times gone by, enrich your life by adding one today!
