Original Art Nouveau Pewter Wall Plaque Maiden & Jugendstil Secessionist Designs:
Height : 18.1 cm
Width : 18.2 cm
This stunning, original Art Nouveau, pewter wall plaque is decorated with the profile portrait of a young woman, wearing a decorative tiara, hair ornaments and necklace. She is at the centre of the plaque, which has strong, Jugendstil, Secessionist, designs and open-work.
The back of the plaque is fitted with the original hanging loop, and four stud ’feet’ to stabilize it when hanging on a wall. It is marked with the moulded number, ‘541’. I do not know which firm made this, but it is similar to items produced by WMF, and is wonderfully cast, with fine detail to the face, hair and decoration.
Offered in good, unpolished, condition, with no breaks, splits, dents or repairs. Some minor loss to the pewter patina around the edges. Please see photos.
A really lovely example of original Continental, Art Nouveau, Jugendstil metalware, which would display well with any collection of WMF, Orivit, Osiris, Urania or similar contemporary items retailed by Liberty & Co at the turn of the last century, such as Tudric Pewter.
Will be carefully and lovingly packed!
