This is from a set the government had discarded that was ostensibly the original artwork for the designing of the crests for the 48 State National Guard units and our associated territories. I acquired the set and will be selling them off individually. They are all original watercolors on board and are in varying condition and the time frame they were done was the 1920\'s to the 1940\'s and the dates are in the corners with the sign off of therelevant officer of the quartermaster general\'s office. These are one of a kind design proofs for the State Guard unit crests and are extremely well done and executed. I do not know who this artist is, but it would be interesting to understand how the US Government, or various States, went about selecting artists and having these drawings done during this period. This design was approved by theQuartermaster\'sdepartment on 06/28/23 and this is a revision of 10/1927 and this was handpainted by the Army on August 9, 1957. It is in good condition with wear to the corners. The size is about 8\" x 10\". This is a hand painted original Connecticut National Guard and US governmental archival document from 1957 and a very rare item.
