Original Cased Victorian British Irish Deputy Lieutenant's Uniforms Set, And Hat For Sale
An impressive set of Named Irish Lord Lt. Items. Set named to FG Pilkington esq. all items come in the original tin travel and storage boxes from Joseph Conan Dublin.The grouping begins with a pair of Victorian period pair of boxed epaulettes, silver lace straps with plated crescents, silver bullion shamrock sprays mounted within the crescents. Finial buttons show the kings crown over laurel sprays, silver bullion fringes. Lined with red moroccan leather stamped in gold with "J Conan" Dublin and crimson silk complete with japanned carrying tin. Slight tarnish, but nothing that couldn't be brightened up easily. Next item is a double breasted doublet. Two rows of Kings crown buttons. Interior is clear, no rips tears or wear. All quilting is intact and the leather interior waist belt is 100%, still soft and supple. All embroidery on the cuffs and collar are sound, complete and very tight. This item carries a black crepe mourning armband on the left arm. It is my belief this was worn in honor of queen Victoria. The back of the tails still retain the 3 shamrocks. They are complete and present. The second tunic is a Victorian queens crown button single breasted jacket in nearly perfect condition. One of the buttons is actually still wrapped in the paper from the tailor. I don't think it was ever worn, all quilting is 100%, the black silk lining on the inside of the collar is perfect. Any the embroidery on the collars and cuffs are perfect. There is a small moth mark on the left cuff. This could be repaired easily. The interior has its red morocco leather belt intact, and supple. Finally the pants which would work well with either tunic are in great shape. Bright silver shamrock lace on both legs. Fabric is of exceptional quality. Silk lining very much intact and in great shape. The beaver bicorne hat is in good shape. In is original tin, along with plume which has its original tin. Supple tan leather sweatband 100% silk lining with J Conan a bit stained and one part near the logo inside where there is a small 1 inch rip in the silk. The exterior fur is in spectacular shape, as is the bullion embroidery. Kings crown button. Looks to be one small service repair to the top skull of the hat. Other than that it's clean. It's a beautiful named grouping with all tins and major pieces spanning two monarchs. Please email any questions.
