Original Christensen Agate Guinea Marble 5/8" No Res Clear Base Glass For SaleYou are purchasing an Original Christensen Agate Guinea Marble, made by the Christensen Agate Company (1925-1933). This marble has a Clear Base Color Glass. Christensen Agate was an Ohio-based company which had no connection with the earlier M.F. Christensen & Son Company. This Guinea is approx 5/8" in diameter and in Excellent condition with only the slightest flea bites as made, HOWEVER grading is very subjective and you should evaluate the marble according to your own standards. If you look carefully you will notice minute pinprick imperfections in the glass which are "as made." There are other such minute imperfections present, however there are no "chips" present. This marble came from a pouch of 25 found in an attic in Central Pennsylvania.Christensen Agate made the "Guinea" marble, a striking multicolor marble that is one of the most expensive and desirable of all machine-made marbles. The name is purportedly derived from the similar coloration of Guinea Hens. Genuine CA guinea marbles have one or two machine “cut lines” that are not found on modern handmade guineas. Cut lines are where the molten glass was cut in the machine, the reformed and rolled back to a sphere. They look like seams on the marble, and are sometimes raised.I guarantee this Christensen Agate Marble to be an original 1925-1933 machine made marble and not a reproduction. See Photo.
