Original Currahee 506th Parachute Infantry Unit History Scrapbook With Extras For Sale
This sale is for an ORIGINAL copy of the rare German printed scrapbook printed for the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. In addition, I am including the three items I found tucked inside the scrapbook: two printed leaflets and a very tiny black and white photo of a man in Army uniform.
First, the scrapbook itself. The full title of this book is "Currahee Scrapbook: 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 20 July 1942-4 July 1945." The book does show some wear and staining from the years, but is still solid. There is a bit of warping to the back cover as shown in one of the photos below. The end pages are now yellowish tan, but the interior pages are generally off white with some speckling. There are a few spots on some of the interior pages. The colors are still very bright. All pages are present, including the 7 onionskin maps and the fold out "Yank" magazine (although the foldout is a bit bent in the corner as shown in the pictures). The end pages are securely attached to the cover and the interior pages. In some areas you can see the spine's binding between the pages. Overall this is in surprisingly good condition considering the book's age!
Next, the extras. I have no way to authenticate these, but they were carefully tucked inside the book. I have put them inside archival comic/magazine bags with boards for extra protection. There are two leaflets, both very yellowed. One matches the picture in the book of the leaflet of the flyer given to the troops from General Eisenhower on D-Day. This one is in fairly good condition. The second is ripped almost through on one side as shown in the photos, and appears to be a double copy of Colonel RF Sink's flyer given to the 506th before the D-Day jumps. The third thing is a very small picture of a man in Army uniform in an outdoor setting. I really can't make out any details of the photo due to the size, and there are no identifying marks on the reverse. It also has some creasing and has absorbed some of the red color from the pages it was stored between.
Because this is not my area of expertise, I am providing an abundance of pictures. View any picture in a new tab to see an oversized version of the If you have questions I will do my best to answer them. I can also provide other photos of specific pages/angles of the book upon request.
All items will be securely packaged together and shipped by USPS Priority Mail, including insurance. These items are being sold "as is".
Thanks for looking and good luck!
