Original Mardi Gras Indian Tribe Handmade Costume One Of A Kind No Reserve For Sale
Authentic Mardi Gras Indian Parade Costume from New OrleansThis is a one of a kind, handmade, original costume made by the Big Chief of the 7th Ward Monogram Hunters Indian tribe for the 2012 Mardi Gras parades held in New Orleans, Louisiana. Each year, while the Krewes focus on their elaborate floats, the Indian tribes of the City of New Orleans spend countless hours designing, building and sewing a new costume for that year's parades. On Ash Wednesday of every year, the 364-day race to complete the next suit begins. This sale is for the headdress and boots made by Big Chief Killean Boyd for the 2012 festivities. Overall dimensions of headdress are approx. 7' x 4'. Each piece is placed and/or sewn by hand. As you will see in the closeups of the headdress, due to the fact that this costume was actually handled and worn by the Chief, there are some beads missing in the upper band. This is the only place that I have found any imperfections after extensive inspection. The photo of the back will give you a good idea of its look and intricacy, although because of the weight of the piece and the wind when these photos were taken, I was unable to get a photo without the layers flying up and around. If you are interested in this piece and require more photos, please message me. Also included in the winning offer are the boots of the costume, which have a side 'pocket' to carry the chief's arrows. These boots are built around tennis shoes. They are split at the back and the wearer must be glued or sewn into them for each use to insure proper fit.Payment is requested within 24 hours of sales end, through Paypal only.Item will be available for pick up immediately upon receipt of payment. Shipment can be arranged by the buyer if desired, but must be arranged in advance with seller.
