Original Sina Grace Cover Art From Not My Bag For The Lustgarten Foundation For Sale
You are offerding on original cover art by Sina Grace from his comic book “Not My Bag”, published by Image Comics. Sina (yes that's him in the picture) has graciously donated this item for sale to support an event for International Tabletop Day to benefit the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
Every cent from this sale will be donated to Lustgarten, whose administrative costs are underwritten by Cablevision; meaning 100% of the winning offer goes completely to research.
In addition, the winner will also receive an autographed copy of the finished comic book, with a surprise drawing by Sina inside. This is a fantastic way to receive a piece of comic book history that in turn donates to a worthy cause!
Sina Grace was the editor for Skybound Comics, the makers of The Walking Dead comic before going on to create his own book, Not My Bag. He also draws the Image comic Lil' Depressed Boy.
From Sina: "I don't like cancer. Never have, never will. Pancreatic cancer especially. When I met Wes and heard his story, I started to connect a lot of dots; how many people in my life were affected by a terrible loss due to pancreatic cancer, and how little I saw being done about it. I'd like in my lifetime to not hear of any disease being an absolute death sentence. The only way that can happen is by funding research for early detection, alternative approaches to the cure, and so on.
For my few fans, you all know that I am protective of the original pages for my graphic novel, Not My Bag. To date, I've only let go of three pages to some influential members in my social circle. Maybe me donating this cover will actually make a dent in the large-but-winnable fight against pancreatic cancer. The Lustgarten Foundation will use your dollars directly for the research- like Wes said: this isn't going to paying the admin bills. Please offer, and let's work together on ending this.xS"
Special thanks to Sina Grace and Allan Chaykin for setting this up, as well as facilitating the idea through the "bad sloth" podcast (episode: TableTopDay). Please subscribe to the amazing bad sloth podcast on itunes here:www.geeketeria.comor listen to it here:www.badsloth.net
Please also take a look at our fundraiser page located here: any additional tax deductible donations you might want to make, or should you not win these amazing items.
Thank you for your offer, and good luck!
Some interesting facts about pancreatic cancer:
-Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of all major cancers. 94% of pancreatic cancer patients will die within five years of diagnosis while 74% of patients die within the first year.
-The average life expectancy after diagnosis with metastatic disease is just three to six months.
-Pancreatic cancer is anticipated to move from the fourth to the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. possibly as early as 2015
-Pancreatic cancer is a leading cause of cancer death largely because there are no good early detection tools or effective treatment options, due to complex biological features of the disease.
