Description

This is an ORIGINAL M1917 steel helmet, as issued to Doughboys during WWI. I purchased this helmet way back in February, 1987 from the AAG International sale of Wilkes-Barre, PA. The helmet has not been altered in any way. The painted red-white-and-blue Third Army (\"AO\" for \"Army of Occupation\")insigne was on the helmet when I purchased it. This is not one of the many reproduction painted WWI helmets done by Ken Hegwood of Trumble, Nebraska (BTW, whose excellent work I greatly admire). The helmet is in VERY GOOD overall condition with an original helmet liner andfunctional adjustable chinstrap without dry rot. The paint on the helmet is still very strong with much of the cork particle coatingstill intact. The olive drab color is most accurately shown in the non-flash photos.

Here\'s a chance for the3rd Armycollector or re-enactor to obtain an original helmet in great condition. The buyer will have my unconditional guarantee of authenticity and a five-day right of inspection and return/refund privilege, excluding postage.
