Original WW1 German Lobster Tail Pickelhaube Helmet -

This is a very nice and 100% original WW1 German "Lobster Tail" helmet. I got this under very auspicious circumstances - the moving sale of a prominent local family - 58 years at one location - and this is only one of many quality WW1/WW2 family heirlooms that I got there.

It is marked on the inside of the shell "Gbr. Israel - 1916\".

The helmet eagle is weak at the neck of the eagle and its left foot has broken off. I have been told that it is not the correct one for this type of helmet, but it definitely came with it.

The spike no longer has the original brads to fasten it to the shell.

The shell has overall light rust patina, which should clean up well if you know how to use oxalic acid to properly restore a helmet. There are no significant dents.

This would make a fabulous restoration project.
