Original Ww1 Very Early Us Brody Helmet 91’s Infinity Division Aef Wwi W/ Liner:
Very early example of a US WWI service helmet. The very first American Expeditionary Forces troops to reach Europe were only equipped with the iconic campaign hats as head protection, as the US had not developed a steel helmet of their own. Those first troops were supplied with helmets and equipment from British inventory, until the US could begin production of the M1917 steel helmet. The 91’s Infantry Division, being among the first American troops to reach France, were equipped with the British Brody helmet. This helmet being an example of one of those first AEF helmets.
The condition is salty, nice and completely untouched since the war. The original British sand textured paint is largely intact, with the 91st division’s emblem painted on the front of the helmet. This is 100% period applied, original paint. The liner and chinstrap are very dry and stiff, however they are both still intact luckily. The rim stamping are lightly visible, and appear to say “66” along with some letters.
This is a wonderful “One Looker” which will go nicely in any US Militaria or WW1 Militaria collection.
