Poster "Nothing Stops These Men, Let Nothing Stop You"
This
original 39” X 54” WWI poster, done from the original art by Howard Giles,
has been folded & stored for years. Government issue posters at this time
were always shipped folded & this one appears never to have been rolled.
It was never lined. Posters of this kind show the grim realities of war, done
in crisp, beautiful, deep colors & display the fine military soldiers
defending our American flag. The poster has the H. Giles ’18 artist signature
on the bottom right. The bottom border notes the Emergency Fleet Corporation,
Philadelphia, who authorized the poster. The poster was published by the John
Eggers Co. New York. The
slogan at the bottom reads: "Nothing Stops These Men - Let Nothing Stop
You." There has been no
restoration to this poster. Being folded, the poster has some paper
separations where the paper folds and some tears from ½” “to 1” on parts of
the border. The creases are more noticeable on the middle fold. There is a
small paper “chip” on the bottom left border. See my photos to describe
