Original Wwii Aaf B-3 Bomber Flight Jacket Named 233rd Aaa Searchlight Bn For Sale
Up for sale is an authenticWWII AAF B-3 leather bomber jacket with the name of M S Solzman on a leather patch on the left side of the jacket (see picture #2). I recently bought this at an estate sale and he was an uncle of the family. They didn't know much about his service but I was able to find a duffle bag with his name and 233rd with what I believe is his service number of 37267432. I found there was a 233rd AAA Searchlight Battalion that served mostly in the Pacific theater.
I also have a pair of A-2 trousers listed that I bought at the same sale but it has a different name on it (McDonald) and 43rd Bomb. Both the 233rd AAA Searchlight Battalion & the 43rd Bombardment Group were in New Guinea in 1943 and that is how I thinkSolzman came to have McDonald's A-2 trousers.
Thecoat is a size 50 and it is in good condition with some light age cracking of the leatherespecially around the cuffs. There are no holes or repairs on the jacket and the leather is still soft and supple. All of the zippers, buckles and leather straps arein very good working condition. This is just a great example of a WWII bomber jacket and it has a documented nameand history with it.
