Orvis Battenkill Bamboo Cane Fly Rod Flyrod Circa 1949 3/2 Rare 5 Weight 8 Foot:
Another rare rod from my collection. The perfect Rock Creek rod...it'll throw a Stonefly Dry a mile but remains delicate and agile. These 3 piece 2 tip Orvis 5 Weight 8 footers are not easy to find. I have a couple of these I've owned for 20 years or more. This one was Wes Jordan designed and made around 1949. It shows normal fishing wear...it is not perfect, but it's solid...it's 64 years old, ok? A really useful utilitarian flyrod that is good for the smallest dries or weighted nymphs. All sections are straight; ferrules are tight; there are no repairs other than one replaced wrap with slightly darker silk. This rod went to New Zealand twice since it's so reliable, and has been on most of the West's best streams. Any curvature in the pics is the camera and not the rod. Good cork and walnut reel seat. Comes with original brass-capped aluminum tube and good original cloth bag. These rods are indestructible and my go-to rods for floating our Montana rivers. Selling only to the lower 48 states. Low reserve for this rod. Shipping and insurance is just $20. I have been selling for over a dozen years and maintain a 100% positive response score. I sell quality items and have been fishing bamboo almost exclusively for over 25 years. Happy offerding! (Reel not included)
